Communication Skills Course

Communication is imperative in all facets of our lives, and plays a part in how effective we are, in both business and our personal lives. The choices we make in terms of how we communicate can make the difference of selling ourselves and our company. This course will focus on how to communicate effectively, using emotional intelligence, in order to grow both personally and professionally.

 This course takes place over a period of four days, for four hours a day. It can be held over 2 full days, but we recommend the 4-day option.

Basic Course Outline:

  • The Communication Chain – the principles of effective communication
  • Parts of speech, tenses and how grammar affects communication
  • Vowel sounds, the schwa, consonant sounds, syllable stress and their importance in intelligibility
  • The difference between active and passive listening, and the importance of active listening
  • Different personality types and how these play a part in Emotional Intelligence
  • Body language and the ability to use it to ones advantage
  • Using effective Business Writing in order to communicate effectively

Benefits and Outcomes:        

    By the end of the course the learner will be able to:

  • communicate effectively, being able to read and use both verbal and non-verbal cues
  • communicate effectively using simple and concise language
  • be aware of the importance of the clarity of speech and being able to project ones voice when necessary
  • understand questions that are posed, or information that is given, and being able to respond accordingly
  • use grammatical structures and conventions to convey the message effectively
  • establish objectives by identifying the intended audience
  • master the fundamentals of communicating a message and being understood by the recipient
  • eliminate communication roadblocks
  • be culturally sensitive across a range of social contexts
