Our General English Language course focuses on fluency and highlights the practical understanding of English through the four main skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking.

This course is designed to enable the student to communicate effectively in everyday situations.

The programme aims at improving reading, writing, listening and speaking skills in addition to providing a thorough grasp of English grammar and broadening the language understanding and vocabulary usage in a range of formal and informal social contexts. Classes can be given privately, or in-house in groups.

Basic Course Outline, which will differ depending on level:

• Parts of speech, tenses and how grammar affects communication
• The importance of tense and how it changes meaning of sentences
• The difference between active and passive speech
• Modal verbs and how they affect the connotation of the message
• Pronunciation and the phonetic alphabet
• Using listening and reading skills in order to communicate effectively

By the end of the course the learner will be able to:
• communicate effectively in English in both spoken and written contexts, speaking clearly, and writing comprehensively
• assess the importance of the language, tense and grammar used in a specific context
• be aware of the importance of lexis and using ‘Plain Language’
• understand questions that are posed, or information given, and being able to respond accordingly and appropriately
• use grammatical structures and conventions to convey the message effectively
• eliminate communication roadblocks
• be culturally sensitive across a range of social contexts
